【Grand Opening and Forum of the Green Health Research Center】

Given climate change, population concentration, and changes in social structures, global warming, environmental degradation, crowded spaces, and fast-paced lifestyles are seriously impacting human, biological, and environmental health. The College of Bioresources and Agriculture at National Taiwan University has established the "Green Health Research Center" to serve as a hub for green health technology research, education and training, innovation and entrepreneurship, and international exchange. On April 10th, a "Center Opening Tea Party" and a "Green Health Technology Application Forum" were held at the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture's Horticulture Hall.

The Green Health Research Center, sponsored by the Agency of Rural Development and Soil Water Conservation, is a hub of innovation housing three state-of-the-art research laboratories. The Health Landscape Intelligence Lab is equipped with a psychophysiological monitoring system that combines Apple Watch physiological data, real-time psychological questionnaire systems, geographical information systems, and AI image analysis systems to identify the health environment characteristics from people's experience of the environment. The Healing Landscape Planning Lab uses digital twin technology to simulate the impact of urban landscape planting and architectural design combinations on wind, temperature, air quality, and human health. The Landscape Environment Simulation Lab, assisted by HTC, uses 360 VR and computer-generated VR to develop possibilities in virtual natural landscapes, green exercise, environmental education and agri-food education, and virtual tourism, helping hospitalized patients and mobility-impaired elderly experience nature virtually.

During the morning opening tea party, many experts and scholars from the fields of agriculture and medicine visited. Director Hui-Mei Chen of the Green Health Research Center not only introduced the center but also led the guests to visit the three labs. In the afternoon forum, five sessions were planned, inviting a total of 20 experts and scholars from the fields of agriculture, medicine, and cultural creativity to discuss the development and potential of smart wearables and health environment planning, VR in agricultural experience and healing environment design, and animal health applications. The establishment of the Green Health Research Center aims to forge a platform that melds the research prowess of the College of Bioresources and Agriculture at National Taiwan University with AIoT, thus making more precise and innovative contributions to Taiwan's environment, biology, and human health.
